Over 9,000 applications rejected

NAMAKKAL: The district administration has rejected around 9,400 applications for inclusion of names in the electoral rolls during the verification process conducted so far.

The administration received a total of 51,459 applications for inclusion during the summary rolls revision work held from January 27 to February 12.

A majority of applications were rejected due to the absence of residence proof.

Some on the grounds of incomplete details and absence of age proof.

Of the total applications rejected, Rasipuram Assembly constituency accounted for 2,758, Tiruchengode 2,000, Namakkal 1,679, Kabilar Malai 1,407, Sendhamangalam 1,353 and Sankagiri 239.

The administration was yet to verify the claim of 9,600 applications. The verification work would be completed in another two days time, election officials said.
