Stamp on Singaravelar to be released on March 2

Special Correspondent

Lt.Governor M.M. Lakhera will receive first album: Ramadoss

Pondicherry: The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) Parliamentary party leader, M. Ramadoss, has said that a stamp on Sindhanaisirpi Singaravelar, a labour leader and freedom fighter, will be released on March 2.

He said in a communication here on Saturday that Singaravelar was a champion of labourers and fought for their rights and privileges.

He was the architect of the May Day celebration in the country.

A postal stamp in his honour would commemorate his services to the nation. He said he had taken up the plea with Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran in December last year.

The Minister considered the plea favourably and arranged for the release of the stamp. He thanked Mr. Maran for his speedy response.

Mr. Ramadoss said the Lieutenant Governor, M.M. Lakhera, would receive the first album of the stamp and the first-day covers.

Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, V. Narayanasamy, MP, and Leader of the Opposition R.V. Janakiraman would attend the function.
