Sanatomba grabs honours

KOLKATA: Manipur's Th. Sanatomba Singh and L. Geetanjali Devi took the men's and women's individual honours in the 26th senior National archery (Indian round) championship that concluded at Jamshedpur on Saturday. Services' men and Manipur women won the team championship.

Sanatomba defeated G. Robert of Services 106 points to 102 in the men's individual Olympic round to take the gold medal while M.J. Harangkhwl of ITBP earned the bronze medal beating Lachit Basumatary of Assam 103 to 93, according to information received here.

Geetanjali defeated Satbir Kaur of Punjab 107-94 in the women's Olympic round gold medal match while Suprabha of Uttar Pradesh took the bronze medal beating Sushma Kumari of Maharashrta 89-82.

The results: Individual Olympic round: men: final: 1. Th. Sanatomba Singh (Mani) 106 bt 2. G. Robert (SSC) 102. 3. M.J. Harangkhwl (ITB) 103 bt 4. Lachit Basumatary (Asm) 93; Semifinals: Sanatomba 107 bt Harangkhwl 102; Robert 104 bt Basumatary 96.

Women: final: 1. L. Geetanjali Devi (Mani) 107 bt 2. Satbir Kaur (Pun) 94. 3. Suprabha (UP) 89 bt 4. Sushma Kumari (Mah) 82. semifinals: Geetanjali 95 bt Suprabha 80; Satbir 76 bt Sushma 65.
