Five tips for growth

BANGALORE:
M.S. Swaminathan, noted agricultural scientist, on Saturday suggested to the Government a five-point programme for improving the agricultural scenario in the State.
Dr. Swaminathan made a 45-minute presentation to Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy. He suggested a "Panchasheela" programme for acceleration of growth in the farm sector. The programme consists of enhancing soil health, conservation of water and management of irrigation, credit, bridging the know-how, and a farmers' friendly market. He suggested that the State set up village knowledge centres under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund scheme of the Centre for dissemination of technical know-how.
