dated February 27, 1956: Chaplin's next film

Veteran film comedian Charlie Chaplin has announced that his first European film will be "A King in New York," the story of the adventures of a dethroned monarch in New York. He would play the role of the ex-king and a British screen star would play opposite him in the role of a young American girl who falls in love with the deposed king. Chaplin maintained that it would be his best and funniest film and would have no political, moral or philosophical message.
