The Delhi High Court's move, asking the city police to furnish details of the Jessica Lal case in which all the nine accused were acquitted by a sessions court, comes as a breath of fresh air. This, along with the Best Bakery verdict in which convictions have been made and a trial for perjury has been set in motion, is good news for those who were beginning to doubt the criminal investigative system.

The acquittal of all the accused in the Jessica Lal case shows that a mockery is being made of the Indian judicial system by people with money and muscle power. When such verdicts are pronounced, it is the people who are defeated.
