TIRUPUR: A maize-straw laden lorry was gutted following a fire at Veppankottaipalayam near Palladam on Saturday. According to police it was on its way to Velappagoundanpalayam from Muthandipalayam. On seeing the flames from the lorry, the driver Ashok Kumar stopped it and escaped from it. Fire engine from Palladam pressed into serve to douse the flames.
Body found
A body of an unidentified man, aged about 40, was found in a well of a farmer in Ettiveerampalayam, near Avanashi on Saturday. According to police, a rope tied up his hands and legs and a cloth covered his face. They suspected that he might have been murdered three or four days ago. Investigation is on.
