3 policemen feared killed in Maoist strike
Special Correspondent
KOLKATA:
At least three policemen were feared killed and two others seriously injured when a jeep in which they were travelling was blown up in a landmine explosion in the Bandwan area of West Bengal's West Midnapore district on Sunday.
The attack, it is suspected, was carried out by militants belonging to the Communist Party of India (Maoist), a senior police official said.
The incident occurred when a convoy of police vehicles was returning from the adjoining Nekrajohora area after organising a medical camp there.
Earlier, the police had carried out a nightlong combing operation in a nearby forest.
