CHENNAI: Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Vaiko on Sunday held discussions with district secretaries, the parliamentary committee and the political affairs committee of the party on the Assembly elections. He explained his two recent visits to New Delhi to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and, later, United Progressive Alliance Chairperson Sonia Gandhi. He told the leaders about his discussions with Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president M. Karunanidhi and the seat-sharing exercise in progress. The circumstances that led to the recent confusion in the party's stand on alliance formed part of the discussions.
Ground situation
Mr. Vaiko heard from the district secretaries their assessment of the ground situation and issues the party faced at various levels. The discussions continued into the evening.
