MAHABUBNAGAR: Karem Narsappa, main accused in the killing of former Makthal MLA Chittem Narsi Reddy and 10 others, was killed in an encounter with the police on Sunday evening. Another person, said to be an associate of Narsappa, was also killed in the exchange of fire. Narsi Reddy was killed by Maoists allegedly led by Narsappa on August 15,2005. According to the police, the encounter took place in the Buddaram forest in Gopalpet mandal. The identity of another Maoist is yet to be ascertained. The police said a 9 mm carbine was recovered from the scene. Narsappa allegedly headed a six-member action team of Maoists that had been constituted to kill Narsi Reddy.
Action team strikes
Gundooru Sreenu, Gunaganti Yadaiah alias Shyam Devendramma alias Rajitha, Matti Ramulu alias Bhaskar and Bandari Mallesh alias Mahesh were among the other members of the team. The action team killed Narsi Reddy and his youngest son Venkateshwar Reddy and nine others at Narayanpet while the then MLA was laying the foundation-stone at Dalitwada. Narsappa was native of Makthal village and had associated himself with the people's War since 1986. He surrendered before the police in the 90's but later rejoined the People's War. He worked as secretary of the Wanaparthy area dalam.
