New Delhi: Her recent poor form notwithstanding, Sania Mirza has managed to hold on to the 36th spot in the latest WTA rankings issued on Monday. Sania, who is struggling with an elbow injury, has 537.75 ranking points. The Indian ace, who lost her first round singles match to Swiss Martina Hingis in the Dubai Open, has pulled out of the Doha Open to nurse her injury. Hingis is steadily moving up and has dethroned American Serena Williams from the 44th spot this week with 495 points. Williams (488) has slipped down six places to finish 50th. Belgian Kim Clijsters leads the pack with 3566 points and compatriot Justine Henin-Hardenne, who beat Maria Sharapova to win the Dubai Open, has moved one place to overtake the Russian at the fourth spot with 2574 points. The U.S.-based Shikha Uberoi, at 160th spot with 171.75 points, is the highest ranked Indian after Sania. UNI
