Rupee ends sharply lower
MUMBAI:
The Indian currency ended sharply lower at Rs. 44.4250/4350 a dollar on Monday, pulled down by hectic month-end dollar demand even as outlook remains positive due to sustained FII (foreign institutional investor) inflows and partly buoyed by the Government's strong 8.1 per cent economic growth projection this year.
Declining by six paise from last Friday's close of Rs. 44.4250/4350, the rupee gradually lost ground on steady dollar demand from oil companies and importers for the customary month-end considerations, dealers said.
