Court issues summons to M. F. Husain

Indore: A local court on Monday issued summons to noted painter M. F. Husain for allegedly hurting people's sentiments by painting an obscene picture of Bharat Mata.

First Class Judicial Magistrate Narendra Jain issued the summons on a petition filed by advocate Chandrasekhar Raikwar. The case was filed under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.

The petitioner alleged that by drawing the painting, the painter had tried to disrupt the unity and diversity of the country and promoted vulgarity.

The court asked Mr. Husain to be present in the court on March 22. — PTI
