Basavaraj Patil Okaly dead

GULBARGA: The former chairman of the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) and educationist, Basavaraj Patil Okaly, 68, died here on Tuesday after a brief illness.

A close associate of the former Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President Mallikarjun Kharge, Prof. Okaly was a member of the KPSC from 1991 to 1997. He had served as professor of Political Science before being appointed to the KPSC. His last rites will be performed on Wednesday.
