Special Correspondent

GULBARGA: The Left parties, social organisations, Samajwadi Party, the All India Progressive Janata Dal (AIPJD), the Republican Party of India (RPI) (Atwale), Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (Sagar) (DSS), Dalit Sena, and Dalit Panthers will hold a demonstration and burn the effigy of U.S. President George W. Bush on Thursday in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office in Gulbarga.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) State Secretariat Member Maruti Manpade said similar protests will be staged throughout the State to highlight dangers involved in the visit of Mr. Bush, who is "coming to India with an agenda to weaken the nation's sovereignty". He said the Left, which supported the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government only to keep out communal forces from coming to power at the Centre, had lodged its protest with the Centre for inviting Mr. Bush to India and its proposal to sign several agreements between the two countries.CPI district unit secretary Shoukat Ali Alur, Vajendra Kulkarni of CPI(M), Mohankumar Tina and Giriyappa Kattimani of AIPJD, and Goutam Kamble of Dalit Sena were present.
