KOCHI: The Centre for Neuroscience in the Department of Biotechnology, Cochin University of Science and Technology, is organising a series of public lectures for the World Brain Awareness Week starting March 13. The programme is being organised as part of the awareness campaign started by the London-based European DANA Alliance for the Brain, an association of neurology experts and neuroscientists. Public lectures will be held at different hospitals and colleges in the district and neighbouring areas, starting with an inaugural function at the Centre for Neuroscience. There will be classes on brain health and care and hospital visits for the general public and interaction with experts during the week. Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, epilepsy, trauma, stroke, memory loss, depression, headache, brain tumours and psychological problems will be the topics covered under the public lectures. The MOSC Medical College, Kolencherry; St. James Hospital, Chalakkudy; M.A. College, Kothamangalam; Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Edappally; Medical Trust Hospital, Kochi; Al-Azhar College, Thodupuzha; Lakeshore Hospital and Research Centre, Kochi; Indira Gandhi College, Kothamangalam and Nair's Hospital, Kochi are the venues of the lectures.
