Saudi Arabia releases two Indian Hajis

New Delhi: Two Indian Hajis, arrested in Saudi Arabia in December for possessing 250 grams of poppy seeds, have been released.

Haneefa Yusuf and her nephew Siraj Fareed had taken the poppy seeds, used in parts of India, with some dishes without knowing that it is banned in Saudi Arabia.

India had raised the issue with the Saudi Government, seeking their early release. Haneefa and Siraj, both hailing from Gujarat, were arrested on December 31 when they landed at the Jeddah Airport to perform Haj.
