Sonia, Manmohan condemn attack

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Congress president Sonia Gandhi has expressed anguish at the killing of a large number of people in Dantewara district of Chhattisgarh. It was "yet another wanton act of violence" by naxalites, she said.

The incident was unfortunate, as the victims were participating in peace marches designed to restore normality in the State. "There can be no compromise with such deliberate and heinous acts,'' she said in a statement.

PTI reports:

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh condemned the attack and expressed sorrow at the loss of innocent lives, according to his media adviser Sanjaya Baru.
