Emirates offers packages for football fans

Staff Reporter

Thiruvananthapuram: Emirates is offering football fans the chance to see 2006 FIFA World Cup matches in Germany with complimentary tickets.

A release from the airline said here recently that thousands of match tickets would be given with exclusive packages. Under the scheme, football fans will get a choice to fly to four German cities with more than a hundred hotels from among 12 FIFA host cities.

These packages, starting from less than $1,856 a person, include flights to one of the airline's four destinations in Germany — Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, Düsseldorf — or to Zurich, Paris or Vienna; two nights' accommodation from a choice of one of the 12 cities where the matches are being played, and a complimentary match ticket, including the final, subject to availability.

Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum said the airline was extremely pleased to be able to offer its customers the opportunity to support their team at the 2006 FIFA World Cup, and to be a part of the spectacular tournament. The package offers include a return air ticket, which may be booked in Economy, Business or First Class, airport and airline taxes and surcharges, hotel accommodation, taxes and service fees and a complimentary FIFA World Cup match ticket - all of which are subject to availability. The offer does not include visas, airport transfers or transfers to the stadia.

The offers are valid for all matches between June 9 and July 9 for the 64 FIFA World Cup matches, including the final. Passengers can opt to watch one or more of the matches in Germany as long as they meet booking requirements and reserve their accommodation through the airline. Hotel accommodation (room-only basis) in either two, three, four or five 5 star properties is offered on the basis of a minimum stay of two nights and is available in Hamburg, Hanover, Berlin, Gelsenkirchen, Dortmund, Leipzig, Cologne, Frankfurt, Kaiserslautern, Nuremberg, Stuttgart or Munich. The offers can be booked via travel agents or from Emirates directly, the release said.
