ALAPPUZHA: The United Democratic Front (UDF) is planning to subvert the coming Assembly elections in the State with the help of extremist organisations, Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) State president Sreeramakrishnan said here on Tuesday. At a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Sreeramakrishnan said reports that the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala had held talks with National Democratic Front leaders recently were proof of UDF attempts to seek the help of extremist organisations. Mr. Sreeramakrishnan, who arrived here as a part of the Yuvajana March of the DYFI, said Mr. Chennithala had not denied the reports. The Congress had sought the cooperation of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in the Thiruvananthapuram byelections. Mr. Sreeramakrishnan said the Indian Union Muslim League was organising violence in north Malabar with the support of the Congress. The Congress was trying to orchestrate a Nadapuram model attack in the State to create a communal division among the public. The DYFI leader said the Supreme Court verdict against the State in the issue of raising the water level in Mullapperiyar Dam was the latest example of the failure of the State Government to protect the interests of the state. DYFI Alappuzha district president A. Mahindran was also present.
