Kakinada Consumers Council to request Railway Minister for funds

Kakinada: The Kakinada Consumers Council at its meeting here on Tuesday, with P.S.R.K. Thimmajirao in the chair, has decided to request the Union Minister for Railways Lalu Prasad Yadav to provide sizable funds for Kakinada linkage to the railway main line.

Stating that linkage of Kakinada to railway main line was a commercial exigency to Railways in the light of large scale oil and gas exploration off the coast, the council wanted the Minister to ensure that adequate funds were sanctioned for the railway line project. It has regretted that only a nominal allocation of Rs.1 lakh was made in the Railway budget.
