Minister's remarks draw flak

SCs categorisation was unanimous, says Zilla Parishad chairman

  • Suryarao also adopts double standards on the issue of SCs categorisation, says Dunna Janardhana Rao
  • Congress uses the issue as a vote-catching device
  • Minister has done little for the SCs

Kakinada: The chairman of the Zilla Parishad Dunna Janardhana Rao has decried Minister for Animal Husbandry Gollapalli Suryarao's open utterances against the TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu on the issue of SCs categorisation.

At a press conference here on Tuesday, he said it was unbecoming of the Minister to have found fault with the former TDP regime and its leader without ascertaining facts.

Recalling that the decision on SCs categorisation was unanimous and Congress never serious in opposing it, Mr. Janardhana Rao said that the present Minister Suryarao also adopted double standards on the issue.

Pointing out that the Minister had done little for the SCs, he said that Mr. Suryarao remained silent when the budgetary allocation for SCs welfare was curtailed diverting the funds for other purposes.

In support of his argument, he cited how from the Rs.983 crores allotted to SCs welfare in the last year's budget, Rs.78 crores was reduced during the year end.
