Srikakulam: Joint Collector M.Veerabrahmaiah on Tuesday directed officials of land acquisition to expedite the process of assessing the value of lands with trees and plants and see that the Rs.30 crores made available for payment of compensation for acquired lands for various irrigation projects was spent before the end of the financial year. Reviewing land acquisition and rehabilitation aspects of oustees of irrigation projects with the officials of revenue, horticulture, road and buildings and forest departments at his chambers here, the Joint Collector wanted officials to acquire 400 acres for the Thotapalli irrigation project by the end of March so that execution of works were carried out. So far, 142 acres had been acquired for the Thotapalli project, he said. The required staff for this purpose would be provided, he said.
Estimates
Rs.10 crores ( Rs.7 crores for unit I and Rs.3 crores for unit II) was available with the officials for land acquistion for the Phase II of Stage II of Vamsadhara project, he said. Mr.Veerabrahmaiah also directed officials to finalise estimates for the rehabilitation colony proposed to be constructed at Gunabhadra, near Parapuram balancing reservoir. Execution of works of this colony should commence by March 10.
