Additional charge for IAS officers

Pondicherry: The Lieutenant Governor has ordered with immediate effect the reallocation of works/subjects among the following IAS officers (Secretaries to the Pondicherry Administration), an official release said.

The Secretary, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Local Administration Departments, A.K. Chaturvedi, has been additionally allocated Industries and Commerce, Revenue, Registration, Survey and Land Records, Excise and Temple Administration and Wakfs, relieving Anand Prakash of these charges.

The Transport Secretary, A.C. Verma, has been additionally allocated Power, relieving Mr. Prakash of the charge.

The Secretary, Economics and Statistics and Law, A. K. Singh, has been additionally allocated Rural Development and Information and Technology. He has also been appointed chairman of the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), relieving Mr. Prakash.

The Secretary, Public Works Department, A. Anbarasu, has been additionally given the subject ofHealth, also relieving Mr. Prakash.

The release said the Lt. Governor had also ordered that all other subjects allocated to these IAS officers in the earlier orders would remain unaltered.

The Private Secretary to the Lt. Governor would hold the charge of the post of Secretary to the Lt. Governor until a further order.

The Lt. Governor also ordered with immediate effect the promotion of four Pondicherry Civil Service (PCS) Grade II officers to selection grade purely on an ad hoc basis.

They are K. Krishna Kumar Singh (Regional Administrator Mahe), D. Balakrishnan (Director of Department of Adi Dravidar Welfare), P. Gautham Reddy (Director of Tourism) and P.M. Balachandran (Under Secretary, Finance).

The release said this would not entitle the officers to claim seniority and other benefits, which were to accrue to them only after regular promotion through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
