TIRUPATI: About fifty participants representing various NGOs, Government agencies, funding organisations, freelancers, print and electronic media are meeting here tomorrow to discuss threadbare the commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking of women in the country. The meeting, organised by the Network Against Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation Andhra Pradesh (NATSAP) and the Tirupati-based NGO, Academy of Gandhian Studies (AGS), assumes importance in the context of alleged pressure being applied on the Government by some vested interests to legalise prostitution, as in several European countries. The meeting would also take stock of the situation in different parts of the country and come out with an action plan to combat the problem more effectively.
