34 lakh applications received so far for employment cards

HYDERABAD : One programme officer will be recruited on contract basis for each mandal in all the 13 districts where the Andhra Pradesh Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme is being implemented. Minister for Rural Development D. Srinivas told S. Udaybhanu (Congress) during question hour in the Assembly on Tuesday that 75 per cent of officers would be recruited on contract while the rest would be deputed from Government. Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah told D. L. Ravindra Reddy (Congress) that 1.50 lakh acres under the Telugu Ganga Project (TGP) would be provided water during the rabi season. Lift Irrigation Minister M. Mareppa said 130 LI schemes had been provided dedicated power lines to provide 16-hour supply.
