Chandrashekhar Azad Award for social service

Award would carry an amount of Rs 1.50 lakhs

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Government plans to institute Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad Memorial Award to recognise outstanding contribution in the field of social services, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said.

The award, carrying an amount of Rs 1.50 lakhs, will be presented at a special function to be organised in the State capital on `Balidan Diwas' of the late freedom fighter.

Mr Chauhan made the announcement while addressing a function dedicated to the memory of Azad on `Balidan Diwas' at Bhabra in Jhabua on Monday, an official release here said.

He said `Azad Memorial Yatra' will be organised from April 15 to 25 from Bhabra to Alfred Park with a view to enlighten people about the values for which Azad lived.

He said efforts would be made to make Alirajpur a district after the delimitation process was complete.

It was also informed that Azad Memorial Tribal Sports complex would be set up at Bhabra -- the birthplace of Azad to promote traditional sports. -- UNI
