FERVENT PLEA: Old students of R.S.K. Higher Secondary School preparing a banner, seeking reconciliation between the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel and the BHEL. Photo: M. Moorthy
Old students of the R.S.K. Higher Secondary School, Kailasapuram, were a dejected lot on Monday, after their strenuous efforts to effect reconciliation between the BHEL and the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel, who had been running the school for 42 years, went in vain. While the Brothers were stated to have taken a stand that "it was too late and their decision to leave the institution cannot be reversed", the BHEL officials at the decision-making level reportedly did not meet the delegation of Old Students' Association (OSA). The alumni delegation, however, met some officials, but could not achieve a breakthrough. Now, the ball is back in the OSA's court to decide whether to continue their association with the R.S.K. Higher Secondary School under a new management, or to retain their bond with the Brothers, who are shifting to the upcoming Montfort School at Kattur, from the ensuing academic year.
