Lawyers arrested for violating order

NEW DELHI: Twenty-one lawyers, including Delhi Bar Association Secretary Sanjeev Nasiar, were arrested on Wednesday from Tis Hazari court complex and remanded in 14-day judicial custody for alleged violation of the Delhi High court order restraining 25 advocates from entering premises of all courts in the national capital. The lawyers were arrested while on a hunger strike inside the Tis Hazari court complex.

Bandh against sealing of shops

NEW DELHI: Under the umbrella of the Confederation of All-India Traders, the trading community will observe a Delhi trade bandh and stage demonstrations in the Capital on Wednesday in protest against the sealing of shops in residential areas and the ongoing demolition drive being carried out by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

Traders will take out a rally from Karol Bagh and proceed towards Pusa Road Chowk where a "chakka jam" will be organised. Kashmere Gate, Rajouri Garden, Lajpat Nagar, Greater Kailash, South Extension, Jail Road, Uttam Nagar, Mayur Vihar, Rohini, Pitampura, Shalimar Bagh, Connaught Place, Paharganj, Patel Nagar, Moti Nagar, Kirti Nagar, Madhu Vihar, Kalkaji, Okhla and Kamla Market will be the major areas observing the bandh, a CAIT release said.

Conference on spinal injuries

NEW DELHI: A three-day International Spine and Spinal Injuries Conference aimed at finding answers to complex questions surrounding spinal problems opens at Ashok Hotel here this Friday.

The conference, whose theme is ``Dilemmas in Management of Spinal Injuries and Spine Disorders", is expected to be attended by distinguished experts from India and abroad.

Performing arts seminar

NEW DELHI: The India International Rural Cultural Centre is organising a national seminar on "Transition of Performing Art from National Level to International Forum" at India International Centre here this coming Saturday.

The conference will be attended by eminent research scholars, writers, art critics, academicians and performing artistes from different States of the country. Eminent danseuse Sonal Mansingh will deliver the keynote address at the seminar that will be inaugurated by Indian Council for Cultural Relations Director-General Pawan Kumar Varma.

Flower show

NEW DELHI: A two-day ``Flower Show" organised by Kalyanmayee -- women's welfare association of the Airports Authority of India -- opened at AAI Rose Garden here on Tuesday. Various competitions like floral rangoli, flower arrangements, ikebana, individual plants and salad dressing were held.
