Delhi Govt. hand in glove with mall lobby: Mukhi

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Levelling a serious allegation of wrongdoing by vested interests that has led to the present mess on the demolition issue in the Capital, the Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Jagdish Mukhi, on Tuesday charged the Delhi Government with being hand in glove with the shopping mall lobby and not taking any steps to get relief for lakhs of people affected by the recent High Court and Supreme Court directions.

"The Sheila Dikshit Government's Bhagidari in the shopping mall scam has been exposed. It is part of this lobby and has worked for the past few months to ensure that things work accordingly to their interests. Till a few weeks ago the malls were having a bad time with nobody buying property there and today the prices of shops in these malls have suddenly gone up by 30 to 40 per cent," he charged.

Asked if some officials and politicians of the ruling party had a share in these malls, Mr. Mukhi said a CBI probe should be ordered into the conduct of the Delhi Government and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi during the last few months in respect of these cases and why the interests of the common man was not protected by the Government lawyers in the court.
