CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has hailed the Union Budget. In a statement here he said the decision to increase the plan expenditure by 20.4 per cent and provide Rs. 18,696 crores for the Bharat Nirman Programme would go a long way in development of infrastructure in the country. Mr. Hooda also appreciated the decision to implement special schemes for the development of those belonging to Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes. Describing the Budget as pro-poor and pro-farmer, he said that it would benefit the common man. He especially appreciated the focus laid on rural employment, irrigation facilities, agriculture, health and education sectors, and rural electrification. He also welcomed the incentives announced for agriculture sector like short-term credit at seven per cent and continuation of agricultural insurance scheme.
