MAHABUBNAGAR: Demanding redressal of their long pending demands, officers and employees of the Sangameshwara Grameena Bank staged a dharna in front of their head office at Mettugadda here on Tuesday. Officers and employees working at rural branches in the district also participated in the dharna. Their demands include - establishment of a national rural bank by merging all other rural banks, allowances on par with commercial bank employees as per the 8th wage agreement, pension and retirement benefits, removal of commercial bank officers on deputation in rural banks, and promotion to all categories of employees. General Secretary of Sangameshwara Grameena Bank Employees Union K. Bhikshmaiah said that they would stage a dharna in front of the Parliament on March 7. Later, the union leaders submitted a memorandum to M. Krishna Rao, chairman of the bank.
