Mullaperiyar case: Swamy's efforts hailed

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: It is because of sustained efforts of the Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy that Tamil Nadu won the Mullaperiyar case in Supreme Court, the president of the State unit of the party V.S. Chandralekha said on Tuesday.

In a statement, Ms. Chandralekha said while Dr. Swamy had maintained dignity now, the Dravidian parties should not seek to claim the credit.

She recalled that Dr. Swamy had made an electoral promise in 1998 on the issue, which he had fulfilled. People of Madurai district and farmers in the southern districts were appreciative of his efforts.
