AIADMK functionary's house burgled

CHENNAI:
Burglars broke into the house of an AIADMK functionary and took away 25 sovereigns of jewellery in Ramapuram on Monday.
Police said the victim, Vaithyanathan, a resident of Rayala Nagar 5th Cross Street, is also an AIADMK party functionary. On Monday, a public meeting was held in Ramapuram area in which he participated with his family members. When he returned home in the night the jewellery was found stolen from the house.
Woman murdered
A 42-year-old man allegedly murdered a 62-year-old woman in her house in Tirumangalam on Tuesday. Police identified the victim as Renukammal.
Police said the woman allegedly scolded the employee, Vaithilingam (42), a police constable from Pondicherry, who was dismissed from service. He was working in the house for over five years, they said.
Infuriated by the behaviour of the old woman, Vaithilingam hacked her to death.
The victim's husband, Sitaraman (66), who tried to protect his wife sustained injuries and was admitted to a private hospital.
The Tirumangalam police have registered a case and are investigating.
