CHENNAI: The CBI on Monday filed a petition in the court of the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore, D. Arulraj, seeking permission to conduct polygraph, narco-analysis and brain mapping tests on Dinesh Dalmia, who has been arrested in a case relating to the alleged Rs.595 crore stock scam. In the petition, the CBI submitted that the accused did not cooperate during the custodial interrogation. He did not reveal anything about the end use of the amount defrauded and also the other accused persons. With a view to unearthing the truth, polygraph, narco-analysis and brain mapping tests needed to be done at the State Forensic Laboratory in Bangalore. The laboratory had also given feasible dates for conducting the tests. The agency prayed the court to grant permission to do the tests.
Judicial custody
The CBI on Monday produced Mr. Dinesh Dalmia before the court on the expiry of the police custody period. Initially, the court had granted police custody till February 24 and later extended it by three days. K.S. Dinakaran and I. Subramanian, defence counsel, said Mr. Dalmia was surrendering in two cases registered against him by the Kolkata police. A. Saravanan, advocate for the Kolkata police, forwarded the production warrant in connection with a case registered by the Hare Street police station, Kolkata (the case relates to the alleged cheating of the Calcutta Stock Exchange and its investors to the tune of Rs.120 crores). The Additional CMM remanded Mr. Dalmia to judicial custody in the cases till March 13 and ordered that he be produced before the Kolkata court on or before that date.
