Assurance on demolition

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Bangalore Mahanagara Palike Commissioner K. Jothiramalingam on Tuesday said that all places of worship that had encroached upon parks and pavements can be demolished if the council adopts a resolution in that regard.

Responding to the Sevashram corporator V. Nagaraj, who complained that a temple had come up in the Arundati Park in his ward, the Commissioner said: "If you resolve to demolish all shrines in parks, I will get it done."

This evoked a mixed response from members.
