TIRUCHI : The contribution of the first project administrator of the BHEL, Tiruchi Complex, Rishiyur Subrahmanyam Krishnan, popularly known as R. S. Krishnan, was recalled with a sense of gratitude at the first memorial lecture organised in his name here on Tuesday. Former Chairman of the organisation S. V. S. Raghavan, who delivered the memorial lecture, the Director, Human Resource, BHEL Corporate Office, S. K. Jain, and the Executive Director, BHEL, Tiruchi Complex, V. Gopalakrishnan, explained the dedication with which R. S. Krishnan built up the industrial complex. Mr. Raghavan recalled the solid foundation laid by R. S. Krishnan, an outstanding mechanical engineer, for the Tiruchi unit from 1962 till his death on February 28, 1968. Calling the late administrator a driving force behind manufacturing sector, Dr. Gopalakrishnan hoped that the combined turnover by the BHEL at Tiruchi Complex and Ranipet would cross the Rs. 3,500-crore mark this year, and Rs. 5,000-crore next year. As the first project administrator, R. S. Krishnan handled the `high pressure' job with élan, adopting a compassionate approach towards employees and being tough wherever necessary, said Dr. Gopalakrishnan. Presiding, the former Executive Director, BHEL Tiruchi Complex, A. Subramanian, said how R.S. Krishnan, with his simple and unassuming nature, won the confidence of officials and employees. K. Ramachandran, former Executive Director, Finance, and K. S. Sathyanarayanan, Executive Director, BHEL, Ranipet, offered felicitations.
