Five DPI volunteers arrested

VELLORE: Five Dalit Panthers of India volunteers were arrested by the Vellore South Police on Wednesday on a complaint from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam that the DPI party workers tore the DMK banners in front of the DMK office

and the foot overbridge in Officers' Line here on Tuesday, when a DPI conference was in progress in the fort grounds.

The volunteers— D. Kovendan, DPI central committee secretary, Vijayasarathy, Vellore panchayat union party functionary, Sridhar, Vellore town deputy secretary, Kannan, office boy and Mark, DPI functionary of Cuddalore— were produced before the Judicial Magistrate-4, Vellore this morning.
