Music festival from tomorrow

The three-day Yuva Gana Mela will be inaugurated by violinist Mysore M. Nagaraj

    MYSORE: A three-day Yuva Gana Mela has been organised by Karnataka Ganakala Parishath in association with Bidaram Krishnappa's Prasanna Seetharama Mandira here from Friday.

    According to a release, the Yuva Gana Mela, a programme to celebrate music will provide platform to upcoming artistes. Music demonstrations will be organised. It will be held at Bidaram Krishnappa's Prasanna Seetharama Mandira. The festival will be inaugurated by noted violinist Mysore M. Nagaraj, and keynote address on Bidaram Krishnappa will be delivered by Sampath Kumar Acharya. Prizes will also be distributed to artistes of 36th Musicians conference. The grand finale will be marked by recital by Carnatic musician Vidwan T.M. Krishna.

    A lecture demonstration on "Suladis" by Vidushi V.N. Padmini, lecture demonstration on "rare compositions of Syama Shastry" by Vidwan R.S. Ramakanth, multimedia presentation of "Life of Dikshitar" by Vidwan H.K. Venkataram, Sri Nagaraja and Saralaya Sisters, lecture demonstration on "Kannada Padas and Javalis" by Tulasi Ramachandra and lecture demonstration on "Manodharma Sangeetha" by Vidwan T.M. Krishna will also be held.

    A dialogue with connoisseurs of Carnatic and Hindustani music has been arranged with Vidushi Manasi Prasad and Vidushi Smitha Bellur. Other programmes scheduled include "Venu Veena Violin Ensemble" by Vidushi S.V. Sahana (Veena), Vidushi Smitha Shashikiran (Flute), Vidushi H.M. Sindhu (Violin) accompanied by Vidwan S. Ashok on Mridangam and Vidwan Sriram Bhat on Ghatam.

    Vocal recitals by Vidwan G. Srikanth and Vidwan Suchetana along with Carnatic Jugalbandi by Vidushi Manasi Prasad and Vidushi Smitha Bellur will be held.
