Alert sounded in Chattisinghpora
Shujaat Bukhari
CHATTISINGHPORA:
U.S. President George Bush is not visiting Chattisinghpora, a remote village in south Kashmir, but his visit to India has certainly opened up the wounds of the families of 35 Sikhs who were gunned down six years ago when his predecessor Bill Clinton was visiting India. On Wednesday this village was calm but on high alert. With the authorities renewing the efforts to ensure safety to minorities in Kashmir on the eve of Mr. Bush's visit, the focus is largely on Chattisinghpora. Additional deployment has been made even as a permanent guard from the Jammu and Kashmir police is stationed in the village with a platoon of the CRPF.
