CHENNAI: The Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams will organise `Srinivasa Kalyana Uthsavam' here on Sunday, March 5, 2006 from 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. The Uthsavam will be held at the open ground, behind Koyambedu market. Addressing media persons on Wednesday, A.V. Dharma Reddy, Joint Executive Officer, TTD said nearly one lakh devotees were expected to attend the function. " We are bringing Utsava moorthies from Tirumala. Temple priests will also be coming specially for the occasion," he said. The event was being organised near the Koyambedu bus terminus so that devotees have no difficulty in commuting, he said. Devotees would be accommodated in the area on first-cum, first-serve basis. Admission is free. All devotees would get copies of Vishnu Sahasranama, Venkatesa Suprabatham and Govinda namavali in Tamil, a kankan and prasadam. The aim of organising `Srinivasa Kalyanam' in Chennai was to enable more devotees to witness the spectacular event, organisers said. It was organised in other places such as Nellore and Pondicherry, where it received overwhelming response. Chennai, however, was the first metropolitan city where the event was being held. Special ambulance facility would be ready and special traffic arrangements made, he said. Organisers said they proposed to hold the festival in Hyderabad later this month.
