HYDERABAD: Reported harassment of colleagues for `mamool' resulted in the killing of auto-rickshaw driver Syed Inayathullah, 26, whose body was found in Gudimalkapur two days ago, the Tappachabutra police said on Wednesday. West Zone DCP Amit Garg told a press conference that the victim used to extort money from Younus, 22, Mansoor, 21, and Pasha, 22, saying he would get them thrashed with his friend Fruit Baba. "Unable to bear the extortion and mental torture, the trio hatched a plan to eliminate Inayathullah and called him for a party on Saturday night," he said. They took him to Dhoolpet, consumed liquor throughout the night and came to Devara Bhavani Super Market complex in Gudimalkapur in the early hours of Sunday. As the victim fell asleep on a by-lane having got heavily drunk, the three drivers smashed his head with a boulder one after the other killing him on the spot. Later, they fled the spot in an autorickshaw, which was seized based on their confession. Mystery shrouded the murder initially as the victim's identity was not known. Circulation of his photo in the area helped police recognise him as Inayathullah. The police stumbled upon the lead on learning that the victim earlier had a tiff with the trio. When rounded up, the three drivers admitted to the murder. Tappachabutra Inspector M.S. Venugopala Rao and Sub-Inspector Mohd. Khaja investigated the case.
