Prepare youth for Defence jobs, says Collector

Reviews developmental programmes with mandal development officers

Srikakulam: District Collector A.Koteswara Rao on Thursday directed officials concerned at the mandal levels to identify youth with the required educational qualification and physical fitness for training and prepare them for recruitment to Army, Navy, Air Force, BSF etc.

Reviewing developmental programmes with the mandal development officers at the ZP meeting hall here, Mr. Rao pointed out that there were a number of candidates who had the required qualifications and would prefer to go for the above mentioned services, but could not do so for want of proper information and guidance.

Housing programme

He said the administration had taken up housing programme -- 65,000 houses were proposed to be constructed under Indiramma programme this year -- in a big way and required trained youth in various aspects like brick making, construction work etc.

Also, financial assistance would be extended to youth to set up units for manufacture of material required for the housing programme under Rajiv Yuvasakthi scheme.

He expressed concern over reports of misuse of funds meant for construction of individual latrines. If officials could not use of the amount, they should send the amount back, he said.
