Option on medical reimbursement changed

Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government has now enabled its employees, pensioners, family pensioners and their dependents to change the option of reimbursement of medical expenses for chronic diseases any time during the year.

The Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Health, Urvashi Gulati, said here on Thursday that this facility would be applicable with immediate effect.

Earlier, this option could be changed only once in the beginning of the financial year in April.

She said the decision had been taken following a number of cases received by the Health Department seeking permission to change the option.

Therefore, the Government had decided to relax the rules and guidelines and delegated powers to all heads of departments to grant permission for change of option any time during the year.

Also, in case of change of option, the facility of fixed medical allowance would be replaced with that of reimbursement.
