Child killed in cracker unit blast

ALAPPUZHA: A three-year-old child was killed and eight others were injured in an explosion in a cracker-manufacturing unit at Kudassanad, near Pandalam, on Thursday.

The police said the explosion occurred at the unauthorised unit functioning in the house of Karthikeyan. Of the injured, the condition of three is serious. They have been admitted to Kottayam Medical College.

The police said they were verifying the identity of the deceased child and the injured persons.
