THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The committee for selection of State Information Commissioners on Thursday recommended the names of journalist P. Faziludeen, retired district judge P. N. Vijayakumar and former director of the Institute of Children's Literature Kurias Kumbalassery to the Governor for appointment as Commissioners. Their appointment would be subject to the approval of the Election Commission of India as the code of conduct for the election is in force.
Selection panel
The selection committee consists of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Finance Minister Vakkom Purushothaman and Leader of the Opposition V. S. Achuthanandan. Mr. Achuthanandan wanted former Accountant General James Joseph to be recommended to the post. But this was not accepted.
Strength goes up
With the addition of three members, the strength of the State Information Commission will rise to five (including the Chief Information Commissioner).
