SSLC examinations from March 15

5.3 lakh students expected to appear

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: More than five lakh students are expected to appear for the SSLC examinations - in the old and new schemes - that will be held in 2,678 centre from March 15.

According to a pressnote issued here on Thursday, as many as 5,36,953 candidates have registered for the examinations. Of this 4,71,317 are regular, school-going candidates who will write the examination in the new, grading scheme.

For these candidates, the IT practical examinations will end on March 8 while the written examinations will be held from March 15 to March 29. Those writing in the old scheme will appear for the written examinations from March 15 to March 28.

In the Gulf countries, 1,038 candidates are expected to appear for the examinations in 16 centres.

In the Lakshadweep where there are nine centres, 3,529 candidates have registered for the SSLC examinations.

Among the school-going candidates who have registered for the examination 2,38,788 are girls.

While 4,10,905 candidates will appear for the examinations from Malayalam medium classes, 54,508 students are from English medium classes. While 3,543 candidates will write the examination in Kannada medium, 2,361 candidates will write in Tamil.

The highest number of students writing the examinations, 1,514, will be from the St. Mary's High School, Pattom and the minimum, 3, from the Vidyodaya English medium high school, Karippode.

Students will not be allowed to have with them calculators, mobile phones or any other electronic device inside the examination hall.

Students will be admitted to the examination hall till 10.30 a.m. and not later than that.

Students must be allowed to write the examination till the long bell sounds. No one must be allowed to go outside the hall till the examination is over, a pressnote issued here on Thursday said.
