THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State employees and teachers owing allegiance to the Opposition have accused the Government of having used the poll notification as an excuse not to implement pay revision. In separate statements here on Thursday, they said the Government had delayed implementing the Pay Commission's recommendation knowing fully well that the election notification would be issued any time. The matter could have been decided at the last meeting and the new scales given effect, they said. In a joint statement, C. H. Asokan, general convener, Action Council of State Employees and Teachers, C.R. Jose Prakash, general convener, Teachers and Service Organisations Action Council, and P. P. M. Asharaf, general convener, Teachers and Service Organisations Forum, called upon State employees and teachers to observe March 3 as `Betrayal Day'. The Joint Council of Service Organisations, NGO Centre and Kerala Government Employees' Union have also come out against the Government. However, the Kerala NGO Association said the Government had decided to give revised salaries to employees and teachers along with the March salary. It regretted the failure of the Opposition to attend the all-party meeting convened by the Chief Minister to discuss wage revision and said the association would continue its fight to get anomalies in wage revision rectified.
