Mughal Garden to remain closed

NEW DELHI: The Mughal Garden at Rashtrapati Bhavan will remain closed to the public this Saturday on account of special maintenance.

According to Rashtrapati Bhavan, more than 1.5 lakh people have visited the majestic garden since it was opened to the public on February 14.

Open for public viewing till March 14, it will be specially opened for physically challenged persons on March 16, visually challenged persons on March 17, defence and para-military personnel on March 18 and farmers on March 19.

Exchange programme

NEW DELHI: The Japanese Embassy here and the Consulates in Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai have started accepting applications for the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme 2006, according to the Japan Cultural and Information Centre here.

The Japanese Foreign Ministry has decided to expand the JET programme in India and recruit more youths to advance friendly relations between the two countries. JET programme was started in 1987 with the cooperation of different countries.

German delegation

NEW DELHI: A high-level delegation from Germany led by State Minister of Economics and Labour, Saarland, Dr. Hanspeter Georgi, is visiting India for one week from March 5 to boost economic ties between the two countries.

The delegation includes Head of the Department for International Economic Relations, Ministry of Economic and Labour, Joachim Kiefaber, and representatives of 16 companies from pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.

Retrospective extended

NEW DELHI: The Satish Gujral retrospective exhibition at the National Gallery of Modern Art here has been extended up to March 5, according to a release issued by Gallery director Rajeev Lochan.

Originally the month-long exhibition was to have ended on February 28.

Educational seminar

NEW DELHI: A three-day national seminar on "Perspective in Educational Technology" began at the Central Institute of Educational Technology here on Wednesday.

Aimed at working towards better understanding of the concept of education and information technology, the three-day meeting is being attended by several experts in the field.
