NEW DELHI: Launching yet another attack on the Congress-ruled Municipal Corporation of Delhi for "mishandling" the issue of commercialisation of residential properties, Bharatiya Janata Party councillor Vijender Gupta on Thursday charged the civic body with concealing crucial facts from the Supreme Court that had led to the order against the Capital's business community. "As per the Delhi Master Plan-2001, mixed land use is allowed in residential properties in about 80 main roads of the city. MCD failed to present this fact in front of the apex court, which led to the court ordering closure of all shops that have come up in residential properties in roads that are 80-foot wide. As a result, in MCD's public notice, even those roads where mixed land use is allowed have also been included," alleged Mr. Gupta. A large number of traders and their employees now fear loss of their jobs, said the Leader of Opposition in MCD's Standing Committee, adding that there were more than a dozen such roads covering almost all the civic zones that now figure in the list. "Roads like Qutab Road, Azad Market Road, Desh Bandhu Gupta Road, Malkaganj Road, Vikas Marg, Ring Road near South Extension, Arya Samaj Road, New Pusa Road, Central Market Lajpat Nagar-II Road, Gandhi Nagar Main Road, Loni Road, G.T. Road, Tilak Nagar-Nangal Raya Road and Raja Park Main Road are some such roads that have been erroneously included in the list," he claimed. Mr. Gupta demanded that all officials who misled the court should be charged for contempt.
